For our music video we have chosen the song 'Aladdin' by Not3s. It is correlated to the genre of grime and explains a narrative throughout. My group and I believe this would be a fun song to work with to convey a meaningful narrative. Its about starting from the bottom of nothing and believing in yourself to set goals that you can achieve and make it to the top. This a common meaning in grime as the artists tend to speak about their personal ways and becoming the greatest. An example of this be Stormzys quote in the Crack Magazine. The quote was 'My goal is to be the greatest'. We support and feel that Not3s song will help us represent grime well and convey a true meaning behind the his lyrics.

Sexy chick analysis
Using this screenshot in the music video "Sexy Chic" we can discuss gender representation in the music industry. Here it shows the female is objectified throughout and is in less power. To begin with, the screenshot is shown from a low camera angle showing the woman to look bigger, it also focuses on her body and is very revealing. This perspective makes the woman an item to the male and is what brings him joy and happiness. The males is still higher showing he has more power and controls the situation. The man and woman aren't even dancing together, she is alone impressing the male, This proves that in sexy chic men have more of a right to stare at women as no other person is watching him.
The women is wearing very skimpy clothing in comparison to the male that is fully clothed, this evidently shows that shes objectified and is in the "male gaze" perception. this means the clothing shows off her body as much as possible, with the smallest amount of coverage. It sexualise's how women should behave around men in order to impress them. They are not directly communicating which shows her as an object on display for the man to view. It clearly is not a hot day to wear little clothing as the male is in jeans which yet shows she does not have to wear that but potentially ordered to by the hosts to boost other girls to do it, so the place is appropriate for men to enjoy.
Male gaze
The male gaze theory is the focus on how men dictate to a woman; and how they (woman) looks or feels about themselves. they are objects to the male "gaze" and positioned as an object to the heterosexual males for feminists this it three ways
- how males look at women
- how women look at themselves
- how women look at each other
Laura Mulvey came up with this theory in 1975. Its focuses on film/camera angles and how the focus is on a womans curves and how males react to the scene. This made women change as they had figures such as marilyn munro and todays era beyonce, as a strong feminist woman that all genders looked up to. For certain promotions throughout years they use women sexually appealing to advertise the product.
